A Post Originally Written For Instagram Towards The Start Of My Recovery:
One thing I’ve noticed since starting this renewed recovery effort is that now I’m consistently eating more and my brain is slowly trusting more food is coming regularly, I’m more relaxed about eating faster and less mindfully too.
When deep in restricted eating habits, every morsel of food was savoured and I would eat slower to try to make it last longer as eating time was so precious to my starved brain.
Now my brain understands that eating is still good and valued but sometimes it can just be about getting that bit of nutrition on board and it knows more will be coming soon enough so there’s less need to prolong each eating experience in the same way.
I am trying to acknowledge these small steps forward and little markers of progress, even on days when otherwise the ED has felt more powerful.
